High School Teacher

Our client is a newly approved Charter School opening a not-for-profit high school this Fall. It has been created to re-engage young people who need a different way to finish school and move forward with confidence. Their model combines a high school diploma pathway with real-world vocational training; giving students the skills and confidence they need to launch into meaningful careers.

They are looking for teachers within the Math and Science subject areas who believe every young person deserves the chance at success and who aren’t afraid to do things differently to make it happen. If you are a teacher who builds relationships before lesson plans, who thrives on creative problem-solving and who wants your work to matter beyond the classroom walls; this role could be for you!

Description

What You’ll Do:

  • Plan and deliver engaging programs aligned to the Alberta Curriculum
  • Build genuine relationships with students, families and the broader school community
  • Monitor student progress and contribute to Individual Learning Plans and Career Pathway plans
  • Participate in professional development, peer observation and collaborative planning
  • Uphold a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment

Required Skills

What You’ll Bring:

  • A valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
  • A bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent
  • Experienced in Math and Science
  • Experience with or passion for working with disengaged youth
  • Strong relationship-building skills and a student-centred teaching style
  • High standards of professionalism, communication and integrity
