Payroll Assistant

This individual should enjoy working in a busy team environment, be flexible and provide innovative ideas for our payroll and service delivery. We are looking for experienced candidates that will be responsible for providing support to the payroll team.

Description

  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with client representatives, and coworkers to promote a quality service image.
  • Filing, data entry, and production of reports.
  • Collect and process information with direction from the payroll team including regular pay values, salary adjustments, special payments, tax allocations and employee deductions.
  • Audit and verify data entry with the team.
  • Assist in delivering reports and information to clients as required.
  • Correspond with employees where basic payroll related inquiries arise.
  • Interface with all PEO Canada departments to help address client requests.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Skills

  • Completion of a secondary education in Business Administration (or equivalent) from a recognized college or technical institute.
  • Working towards or completed PCP (National Payroll Institute).
  • Experience handling and maintaining private and confidential information and documents.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of multi provincial payroll, weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payroll cycles.
  • The ability to meet strict deadlines, work under pressure and have efficient time management skills.
  • Proven analytical problem-solving skills to logically investigate discrepancies.
  • The ability to work independently and as a team member, requiring minimal supervision to meet position objectives.
