Senior Geologist
Our client is a privately held Canadian oil operating company focused on responsible and efficient development of conventional light oil assests in our fractured carbonate reservoir in Southeast Saskatchean. They are currently seeking a highly experienced Senior Geologist for their Calgary office. With more than 20 years of petroleum geology expertise this individual will be key in guiding our exploration and development strategy. This role will be instrumental in evaluating reserves, selecting optimal drilling locations, and providing advanced subsurface insights that support long-term asset performance and corporate growth.

Description
- Lead comprehensive geological evaluations of oil prospects, including seismic interpretation, structural mapping, and basin analysis.
- Direct and oversee drilling programs, ensuring accurate geological models, well-planning input, and effective risk mitigation strategies.
- Responsible for regional and detailed geological mapping to select future drilling locations and estimate reserves.
- Accountable for success of geological operations including planning vertical and horizontal drilling programs, and executing geosteering of horizontal wells during 24/7 operations.
- Collaborate closely with consulting geophysicists to refine well locations and subsurface interpretations.
- Work jointly with reservoir and production engineers to optimize field development plans and enhance recovery.
- Provide strategic recommendations on exploration initiatives, acquisitions, and overall asset development.
- Maintain, manage, and continuously update the company’s GeoScout database and IRIS submissions.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline, preferably with a Professional designation.
- 20+ years of petroleum geology experience, ideally with extensive knowledge of Southeast Saskatchewan basins.
- Experience with fractured carbonate reservoirs is highly desired.
- Demonstrated success in reserve evaluation, prospect generation, and exploration outcomes.
- Leadership, communication, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with Canadian regulatory frameworks, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
- A strong entrepreneurial mindset, monitoring industry activity and new technical advancements.
