Senior Production Engineer

Our client is a privately held Canadian oil operating company focused on responsible and efficient development of conventional light oil assests in our fractured carbonate reservoirs in Southeast Saskatchean. They are seeking an experienced Senior Production Engineer to support and optimize oilfield operations across our Saskatchewan asset base. The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise in production engineering, strong leadership capability, and a commitment to safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This role is based out of Carlyle, SK, and serves as a key technical resource.

Description

Production Optimization & Engineering

  • Design, evaluate, and oversee production systems, including artificial lift, wellbore equipment, and surface facilities.
  • Analyze production performance, diagnose underperforming wells, and implement improvement strategies.
  • Lead production optimization initiatives, including decline analysis, nodal analysis, and lift-system tuning.

Field Operations Support

  • Troubleshoot operational issues and provide timely engineering solutions to enhance run times and reduce failures.
  • Collaborate closely with field operations, maintenance, and service providers to ensure smooth daily production activities.
  • Support well interventions, workovers, and equipment selection for long-term production reliability.
  • Check daily report on well tests for operational improvements.

Planning & Development

  • Lead field development planning, including drilling/workover recommendations, production forecasting, and asset optimization.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reductions, efficiency gains, and operational improvements.

Compliance, Safety & Leadership

  • Ensure all operations comply with Saskatchewan regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Develop and champion safe work practices across the field.
  • Mentor and guide field personnel, promoting a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering preferred—but equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 10+ years of production engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, ideally with Saskatchewan operations.
  • Extensive expertise in artificial lift systems, including rod lift, PCPs, ESPs, and optimization methodologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of Saskatchewan regulatory frameworks, safety codes, and environmental standards.
  • Experience with fractured carbonate reservoirs is highly desired.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to guide and support multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
