Senior Reservoir Engineer

Our client is a privately held Canadian oil operating company focused on responsible and efficient development of conventional light oil assets in Southeast Saskatchewan. They are seeking a highly experienced Senior Reservoir Engineer to support and optimize oilfield operations across their Saskatchewan asset base. The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise in reservoir engineering, conventional well drilling & completions, and well optimizations. This role is based out of the Calgary office.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members to achieve annual and long-term oil production targets across the Saskatchewan asset base.
  • Work with Geology to develop and execute annual drilling and completion programs.
  • Design, evaluate, and oversee production systems, including artificial lift, wellbore equipment, and surface facilities.
  • Analyze well and field-level production data to identify underperforming assets, diagnose root causes, and develop practical, cost-effective solutions such as workovers, recompletions, and stimulation programs.
  • Provide technical support to field operations, including troubleshooting mechanical and production issues, supporting workover execution, and ensuring safe and efficient implementation of engineering plans.
  • Conduct detailed economic evaluations, including capital and operating cost analysis, rate-of-return calculations, and risk assessments of proposed plans.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reductions, efficiency gains, and operational improvements.
  • Mentor and guide field personnel, promoting a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to long-term development planning and strategy, incorporating best practices, lessons learned, and emerging technologies to ensure sustainable and responsible resource development.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, preferably with a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
  • 20+ years of reservoir engineering experience in the oil industry, with an emphasis on hands-on practical experience with drilling and completions.
  • Extensive expertise in artificial lift systems, including rod lift, PCPs, ESPs, and optimization methodologies.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to guide and support multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
