Winter brings with it frigid temperatures, snowy days, and sometimes a case of the winter blues. If you find yourself feeling sluggish and having trouble getting out of bed in the morning during the dark and cold winter months; try the following things to help brighten your mood, and lighten your day:
Exercise: Don’t have time to go to the gym every day? No problem! Even a 15 minute walk during the day can have a dramatic impact on your mood. Try a new winter sport! Skating, skiing and snowshoeing are just a few of the fun things you can do during the colder months.
Eat Right: Make sure that you are drinking plenty of water and eating well balanced meals for as many meals as you can. You can break out of a meal-time rut by searching the internet for some new healthy recipes that include some of your favorite foods!
Have Fun: Sometimes the best way to raise your spirit is to do things that you love and enjoy. A few ideas that you can do to have some fun in your day could be as simple as making someone laugh by telling a funny joke or story; or try dancing and singing to your favorite song! It might be time to pick up a new hobby you have been dreaming about – or pick up the one you used to love but haven’t done in a while.
Most importantly, take the time to take care of yourself in these cold snowy months, and your winter blues (and the piles of snow) will soon melt away!
