Business
Whether you are looking to start operations for the first time in Canada, looking to acquire a business in Canada, or looking to grow an existing business in Canada. Here are some questions you should be asking to determine whether outsourcing is the right answer for you. How Outsourcing HR Functions Can Help to Save Money in a Tough Economy

Business
Small businesses are struggling to deal with the challenges presented by the current economy. PEO Canada can support small to medium size companies in managing their costs by providing a team of dedicated individuals to assist with managing human resource functions. One way that companies use to control their costs is to re-distribute the work load to alleviate the need to hire new staff. Hiring new staff can be expensive, but re-distributing duties creates an added burden on existing management and employees. These added burdens take away from the ability of these employees to focus on their core duties which help to increase revenue and grow the business....

Thinking of Changing Payroll Providers?

Business
Not happy with your payroll provider? Maybe it’s time to change!  Before you do, make sure you are thoroughly prepared in order to make the transition as smooth as possible. Why are you leaving? First, examine why you’re considering a switch in the first place. List the reasons you don’t like your current provider to help you determine the questions you need to ask new payroll providers you are considering. For example:  Is your current provider inaccurate? Inattentive?  Difficult to contact? You may also want to ask questions, such as: What is their experience? How many companies have they served and how long have they been in business?...

Attracting Generation “Y” Business

Business
Sales people should take note of the emerging Generation “Y”. We should know what gets them interested and how to attract their business. At the most recent NAPEO Conference, I attended a Keynote speaking session and listened to Seth Mattison. His topic was “The Future of Work Today: Innovations to Compete and Succeed in Digital Age”. The main point he was trying to get across? The next generation of professionals is looking for authenticity. The next generation of buyers feels that authenticity matters most. I then read Mattison’s article “The Secret Insight on Reaching Next Gen Buyers”. He described them as suffering from an erosion of trust. This...

Business Survival

Business
With the challenges faced today in small businesses to survive amongst the fittest, there is no surprise that many entrepreneurs fail within their first year of business.   This can be the result of many factors, but one common thread is poor operations.   One can argue that the term “Operations” is very vague and can encompass a variety of components, but likely the most difficult piece to manage is the human aspect.   As your business grows from a small simple structured organization to multiple employees, the level of detail and time spent on payroll and human resources increases tremendously.   PEOs can help mitigate the risk and administration burdens placed...

Do Referrals Really Work?

Business
We all know how effective good referrals are…or do we? Encouraging people within your network to send referrals your way and making an effort to give good referrals can be difficult.   We likely do this on a regular basis more then we realize, but it is typically surrounding our personal lives and less in a business context. There are many B2B networks out there who's entire premise is referral based.   My first experience with a group like this left me walking away from the first meeting I went to thinking it was some sort of a cult!   Looking back I realize how effective these people actually were in driving...
